About Frame Maintenance

All frames sold at Masterpista go through a full overhaul before listing, so you don’t have to worry about things like seized parts. For frame sets, we carry out the following maintenance:

  • Bottom Bracket Shell
We perform facing and tapping to make sure the bottom bracket can be installed smoothly with no issues.

  • Headset
We disassemble the headset, clean it thoroughly, apply fresh grease, and reassemble it for smooth operation.

  • Pre-installed Bottom Brackets
If a frame comes to us with a bottom bracket already installed, we remove it, clean it up separately, and sell it as a used part.

  • Frame Cleaning & Finishing
We give each frame a full cleaning and finish it off with a layer of wax for protection and shine.

About the Chemicals We Use

Here are some of the products we use for cleaning and rust removal:

Condition Ranking

We rate the condition of our frames using the following scale:

  • N (New): Brand-new or unused item, sometimes in original packaging.

  • S (Like New): Has been assembled but shows little to no signs of use.

  • A (Excellent): Minor scratches or marks, but overall in great shape.

  • B (Good): Noticeable scratches, chips, or paint wear, but fully functional.

  • C (Fair): Heavier signs of wear like multiple chips or a small dent, but still works fine.

  • D (Junk): Significant dents, damage, or paint issues—sold as-is, for restoration or parts.

We also clean off rust from the bottom bracket shell and stem clamping area as much as possible before listing.

Important Notice and Disclaimer Regarding Used Frames

Thank you for considering a used frame from Masterpista. Before making a purchase, please carefully review the following information. Your understanding and cooperation will help ensure a safe and enjoyable riding experience.

  1. Condition Check
All frames are visually inspected and tested for basic functionality before being listed for sale. However, as these are used items, there is a possibility of hidden damage in areas not visible during inspection, such as the interior of the frame. Please understand this risk before making a purchase.

  2. Maintenance Responsibility
As these are second-hand products, we kindly ask that you take full responsibility for any necessary maintenance or servicing after the purchase.

  3. Return Policy
We do not accept returns or exchanges for issues related to age-related wear or damage that occurs after delivery. Returns are only accepted in cases where the frame is found to be clearly defective upon arrival.

  4. Pre-Ride and Regular Inspections
Internal wear and degradation can vary depending on how the frame was previously used or stored. To ensure your safety, please make it a habit to inspect and maintain your bike regularly.

  5. Disclaimer of Liability
Masterpista assumes no responsibility for any damage, dents, or injuries that may occur after the product has been delivered. Please ride safely and maintain your equipment appropriate.

Packaging

Here’s an example of how we pack frames for international shipping. We take great care to make sure the frame is securely protected and won’t get damaged during transport.

For domestic shipments within Japan, we still make sure the frame is protected from scratches, but we use only the minimum necessary amount of packaging materials.
