BATBAR has been around long enough that, these days, it’s pretty hard to talk about Masterpista without mentioning it.
Before the current chromoly version, we actually had BATBAR made locally at a metal workshop here in Osaka — out of serious, no-joke steel.
It was so ridiculously heavy that it felt less like a handlebar and more like something you could use for weight training. We even used to call it the “muscle training bar.”
THE LOOK ONLY CHROMOLY CAN GIVE
Raw. Tough. Industrial.
BATBAR looks like it has just been pulled straight out of a blazing furnace — more like a well-used workshop tool than a polished bicycle component.
And then there are the heat marks around the welds.
Those colors give every BATBAR a character you simply won’t find on an ordinary handlebar.
If you’re the kind of person who loves the look and feel of raw metal, you’ll probably take one look at it and think:
“Yeah. This is pretty damn good.”
Maybe that’s why BATBAR has stayed one of our best-selling handlebars for so long.
MADE FOR THE RIZER
The Rizer was created after I asked Nishiyama-san from ROCKBIKES to do all sorts of unreasonable things for me.
The result was exactly what I wanted: chromoly tubing with beautiful heat-colored welds.
BATBAR fits the world of the Rizer so perfectly that sometimes it almost looks like the handlebar and frame were designed as one piece.
But here’s the funny part.
BATBAR also looks surprisingly good on aluminum frames — and even on thin, classic NJS chromoly frames.
Somehow, it adds just the right amount of attitude to almost any fixed gear build.
HOW BATBAR WAS BORN
The story starts with one of my all-time favorite bikes: Brooklyn Machine Works.
The original idea was simple:
“Let’s make a handlebar that looks insanely good on a BMW.”
But Brooklyn Machine Works frames were produced in limited quantities, which made it difficult for us to keep them in stock consistently.
So eventually I thought:
“Fine. Then let’s make a frame that can stand next to a BMW.”
And that’s how the Rizer was born. The ridiculously simple equation—
Looks great on a BMW = Looks great on a Rizer
—eventually turned BATBAR into one of the signature products of Masterpista.unny how things work out.

NOTICE
To improve durability around the heavily loaded center weld area, we increased the wall thickness of the tubing and strengthened the overall construction.
However, extremely hard impacts may still cause the handlebar to bend or deform.
BATBAR is designed for street riding and everyday fixed gear use, and is not recommended for aggressive impact-heavy tricks.
