Honestly, even I, Nakase, didn’t expect this phrase to resonate so much. But every time my assistant Chu explains it to overseas visitors at the shop, no matter where they’re from, every fixed-gear rider nods and goes, “Ah, yeah, totally!”

Forget shouting—let your heels do the talking

This is the phrase every fixie rider wants to scream out loud. But instead of yelling it to the world (where 99% won’t get it anyway), why not drop it casually on your heel?
Imagine overtaking some slow bike dude in style—your voice is silent, but your heel says it all.

Both heels would be overkill (and kinda lame), so we kept it balanced: one sock says Retrogression is Progression in Japanese Kanji, the other has the Masterpista logo. Which foot gets which? That’s up to your mood and your style. Me? I’m rocking the phrase on my right heel. Why? …C’mon, you know why.
