Introducing the "Extreme Pressure Wear-Resistant Special Lubricant" — an industrial-grade lubricant.
We all know 5-56 spray, but in my experience, this one is about 10 times more powerful than 556 (no scientific evidence to back that up).
Westy from Rockbikes has been using it for years. When a bike manufacturer uses it, you can trust it, right?
This lubricant is a professional-grade product used in factories and not available at home improvement stores.
If you think it's too much for your bike, 5-56 might be sufficient for you. But once I experienced the power of this spray, I haven’t found anything better.
Many of you have invested in high-quality bike parts, and for those wanting to maintain your bike and parts in the best condition for as long as possible, I highly recommend this spray.
While it costs about 10 times more than 5-56, one can should last you 1-2 years if applied once a month on a single bike.
Recommended For:
-New bikes with slightly upgraded parts
-Those who want to keep their bikes in pristine condition
-People who have invested in high-end custom parts
-Those who are bothered by chain noise
-For a chap mom bike, 5-56 will do just fine.
What's So Special About It?
This special lubricant contains high-performance anti-wear additives and anti-oxidants. It significantly improves the lifespan and wear resistance of parts, especially in areas of high friction and wear like the drivetrain, bearings, chain, and derailleurs.
"Extreme Pressure" is a term you don't often hear, but extreme pressure lubricants differ from regular lubricants by being used in high-stress situations where the contact pressure is high and oil films tend to break down. This lubricant forms a strong oil film on metal surfaces, reducing friction and preventing burning or seizing.
In simpler terms, the longer the strong oil film lasts on your bike's metal parts, the less wear they will experience, and you'll keep your bike in a comfortable, high-performance condition.
Where to Use:
I highly recommend comparing this to your usual lubricant and noticing the difference.
You can use it in all the areas you usually apply oil.
1. Apply on the Chain
Spray along the chain, making sure to cover the cog area, and let the chainring complete a full rotation. After application, pedal a few times to ensure the lubricant spreads evenly.
Expected Results:
-Noise from gears and chain is reduced or completely eliminated
-Smooth, fluid riding experience
-Rust prevention
2. Apply on BB, Hubs, and Headset Bearings
(Best used in combination with Nakase's favorite grease)
Wondering why mix grease and oil? Well, you don't mix them, but after applying grease to these parts, just lightly spray over the grease. This will add the wear-resistant properties of the lubricant to your setup.
Bearing parts, especially, are delicate and undergo significant wear, so use this lubricant as a finishing touch after greasing.
